For over 25 years, MeRTEC, along with the MSMR, NCABR and the FBI WMD, have hosted the Three I's conference for promoting responsible conduct in ethics. This event is an outstanding educational, networking and training opportunity for compliance professionals.
In the field of ethics, collaboration is vital among the three I's committees: IACUCs, IBCs and IRBs. It can reduce redundancies and make it easier for the investigators to stay within compliance procedure. By establishing these procedures, professionals are able to conduct research – safely, responsibly, ethically and securely – while helping to identify and communicate compliance and security concerns. Conference includes full breakfast and lunch for three days, networking event and conference materials. |

The Beech Tree Scholars program has been established to both honor their memory and continue their legacy of welcoming those new to the field. Beginning in 2025, each year a selected applicant will be awarded registration, domestic airfare and hotel to attend the THREE I’s conference. As the network of Beech Tree Scholars and their supporters grows, it will continue to provide both roots and shelter within the research ethics community.
